What is Family History Testing?

Your family health history can provide important insights into your risk of developing certain conditions. Our Family History Assessment and Genetic Testing service can assess your personal and family history to identify potential inherited risks.

If you have a family history of cancer, a heart condition such as cardiomyopathy, or a single gene disorders, such as Familial Hypercholesterolemia, Haemochromatosis or Cystic Fibrosis, this service can help you understand your risk.  Neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease can also be genetic, but in most cases, Alzheimer’s does not have a single genetic cause.

Why Consider Family History Testing?

Family history is important because many conditions can run in families, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, asthma, and other inherited conditions. Family members share genes, lifestyle habits, and environmental factors, all of which influence health.

  • Determine whether genetic testing is appropriate
  • Make lifestyle changes to reduce risk
  • Help family members make informed health decisions

What Can Family History Testing Assessment?

Anyone can access family history assessment, but it is more useful forindividuals who have more than one close relative, affected by the condition.
